Young Philippine Figure Skaters Deliver Podium Sweep in Indonesia

Five young figure skaters delivered five medals at the 2018 Indonesia Open National Figure Skating Championship, held in Jakarta last April 20 and 21, 2018.

Celine Tansipek, 8; Shaniah Yu, 12; and Amanda Sophie Hernandez, 10 each won gold. Tansipek won in the Open Elementary Girls event; Yu in Open Basic Novice B Girls; while Hernandez topped the Open Advanced Novice Girls. Charmaine Skye Chua, 14, picked up a silver in the Open Advanced Novice Girls and Krystle Rheanne Siy, 11, scored bronze in the Open Basic Novice A Girls event. The girls were up against skaters from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. 

The skaters used this event to prepare for the upcoming season and have their sights set on the 2019 SEA Games. More skaters are looking to follow in their footsteps and continue to impress internationally in the coming months.
