Team Philippines Off to Solid Season Start at Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy

The Philippine Figure Skating Team started the 2018/2019 season on a good note at the 2018 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy held last August 1-5, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Philippine delegation was composed of 8 skaters competing from Basic Novice to Junior, one of the largest delegations sent to this competition in the country's history. Skaters from Korea, Japan, USA, Australia, and Southeast Asia compete annually together in this event, the sole competition in Asia recognized by the International Skating Union (ISU).

The breakout performer for the Philippines was Felicity Cristobelle Eco, who finished 5th out of 20 skaters in the Basic Novice Girls event. Hayden Isabel Balucating also placed 6th out of 18 skaters in Intermediate Novice Girls and Sofia Isabel Guidote placed 8th out of 18 skaters in the Junior Ladies event to round up the Philippines' top half finishes. 

The full list of Team Philippines finishes is as follows:

Basic Novice Girls:
- Felicity Cristobelle Eco (5th place)
- Ann Cathryn Lagemann (14th place)

Intermediate Novice Girls:
- Hayden Isabel Balucating (6th place)
- Haley Elizabeth Streleoff (16th place)

​Advanced Novice Girls:
- Amanda Sophie Hernandez (15th place)
​- Aiko Marie Shibata (20th place)

Junior Ladies:
- Sofia Isabel Guidote (8th place)
- Andreanne Jaye Ariones (18th place)
