Guidote Sets New Highs in ISU Junior Grand Prix Debut

15 October 2018
16-year-old Sofia Isabel Victoria Guidote continued to prove figure skating's rise in the Philippines with a new Personal Best score at the ISU JGP Armenian Cup held last October 10-13 in Yerevan, Armenia.

She is the first skater who calls the Philippines her training base to surpass 100 points at any international competition. Her total score of 102.08 landed her in 18th place and was the highest score achieved by a Filipino skater at the junior level since 2014. She was also the highest-ranked skater from Southeast Asia and also bested skaters from Europe and North America.

After having to wait two years to finally debut at the Junior Grand Prix circuit - owing to injury in previous years - Guidote made her debut count. With this experience, she hopes to continue her improvements internationally and hopefully represent the Philippines at an ISU Championship event.

Videos from her Short Program and Free Skating in Yerevan have been made available by the ISU through their YouTube channel.

Congratulations, Sofia!
